FC Isar Robotics is officially live
Munich's first humanoid RoboCup team is public: founded at TU Munich, organised under RoboTUM, and aiming at the 2027 World Championship in Nürnberg.
FC Isar Robotics is live. We are a student team at TU Munich building autonomous humanoid robots that play football, and as of today the team, the plan and this website are out in the open.
Munich is one of Europe’s leading robotics locations, and it still has no RoboCup team. Bonn, Leipzig, Dortmund, Hamburg and Berlin already compete. We are the entry from the south, with one clear target: standing on the pitch at the RoboCup World Championship in Nürnberg in June 2027.
We are organised as part of RoboTUM, the student robotics network at TU Munich with more than 150 members, and through it under the non-profit NEXT Prototypes e.V. That gives us a proper foundation from day one — a legal home, tax-deductible donation receipts for supporters, lab space in Garching and a direct line into the university’s institutes.
The scientific side is covered as well. Prof. Daniel Rixen (Chair of Applied Mechanics) and Prof. Johannes Betz (Autonomous Vehicle Systems) support the team, with day-to-day supervision from research associate Philipp Radecker.
What comes next is the build: the robot platform and its bring-up, the first version of our perception and motion stack, and above all the team itself. We are recruiting now, so if you want to help build it, the registration form is open — and companies that want their name on Munich’s first humanoid team can talk to us directly.
