RoboCup World Championship, Nürnberg, June 2027
We are building Munich's first humanoid football team.
A student team from TU Munich, on the way to the RoboCup World Championship in Nürnberg in June 2027, where autonomous humanoid robots play football against each other.
What is RoboCup?
Autonomous robots that play football
An international robotics competition that has been running since 1997. Its long-term goal is that by 2050 a team of autonomous humanoid robots can beat the reigning human football world champions.
We compete in the Humanoid League, where nobody holds a controller — every decision is generated and executed on the robot itself. That makes it a hard test of computer vision, motion planning and real-time decision-making.

The gap
Munich is one of Europe's leading robotics locations, and it still has no RoboCup team. That is what we are changing.
And we are building it in the best place for it in Germany: the network of TU Munich and its institutes, where robotics research already flourishes, with professors, researchers and engineers who back the project and challenge our results.
